Advisory Board Member Spotlight: Terra James
What made you want to get involved with the Plainview Area Endowment?
In 2018 I was the President of College Hill Elementary School PTO in Plainview. My daughter was in Kindergarten and our goal that year was to help our campus purchase and install new Playground equipment. I was informed and advised to reach out to the Plainview Area Endowment and apply for a grant to help with the project. After I applied, and our project was awarded a grant I wanted to get involved. I was so blown away by the Plainview Area Endowment and their mission to support Plainview Non-profits.
What is the most rewarding part of being on the board?
The most rewarding part of being a part of the Plainview Area Endowment is that we have the opportunity to support local non-profits and their needs or projects in a manner that is perpetually giving.
What is one thing you wish people knew about the Plainview Area Endowment?
My mission as being a board member of the Plainview Area Endowment is to educate our community that the Fund is made up of personal funds that can be an estate planning opportunity as well as a general fund that manages finances that the dollars will continue to support non-profits in our local community forever. This fund is an opportunity for all of us to come together pulling anything we have to give together to make a large and profound impact in our community.
No giving is to small, we are powerful in numbers. When we all pull our money together big impact. There are so many people doing wonderful things in our community and this is an avenue to make sure those programs get the support they need, purchase items that can help their program or successfully complete special projects.
